2011 MICHIGAN STORM PLAYER PROFILES

• MARISSA COTTON: FARMINGTON HARRISON H.S./GUARD/CLASS OF 2013
Profile: An extremely tough and tenacious on-ball defender. Marissa is an excellent spot up shooter and is a fearless player who has played 16-U travel AAU travel basketball since the 9th Grade and is a two year varsity starter at Harrison. Marissa will lead Harrison at the point guard position and will not back down from anyone, regardless of their rank or reputation.

• EMILY COOPER: RIVERVIEW GABRIEL RICHARD H.S/CENTER/CLASS OF 2014
Profile: Emily is 6'2" tall, physically strong and carves out space around the basket due to her size. Emily runs the floor well and has a soft shooting touch. She is "money" from either elbow and a formidable shot-blocker. Although a Freshmen this past summer and playing with experienced and accomplished upper-classmen in the ultra-competitive 16-U Division, Emily earned increased playing time due to her rapid improvement. Emily will have a much larger role with the Storm in 2012.
• CHERRISH WILLIS: FARMINGTON H.S/GUARD/CLASS OF 2012
Profile: left-handed guard with quickness; has a beatiful jump shot. Cherrish can shoot with the best of them and is tough as nails. When she gets hot, game over. Cherrish posted a school record 30 points in a win against River Rouge during her Junior year. Despite her ability to put points on the board, Cherrish is a team player as is indicated in a link below. You can also see Cherrish's textbook jump shot in the You Tube link below; in that clip Cherrish calmly sinks a game-tying three point shot at the buzzer for her High School team last season.
• ANGELA BROGGI: ANN ARBOR GABRIEL RICHARD H.S./COMBO/CLASS OF 2012
Profile: Angela is an extremely versatile and cerebral player who can adapt to any role that she is called upon to fulfill. Angela stepped in and played the "5" spot in her Junior season after the heir to that throne transferred to another school. Angela didn't just play the position, she played it well enough to become "All Catholic." This is remarkable since Angela is not a true "5." Angela quickly transitioned during the summer and played every position from the "2" through the "5". She demonstrated that she can shoot the three as well as handle the ball in transition. Angela has remarkable court vision and is the consummate team player. As the articles below attest, Angela has a knack for hitting game winners.

• KILYN BULLUCK: MARIAN H.S./FORWARD/CLASS OF 2013
Profile: Ferocious and tenacious are two adjectives that must be used when describing Kilyn's rebounding abilities. Kilyn is as strong as any post player in the State of Michigan and she uses her strength to carve out space in the paint. Despite being "undersized," Kilyn proved during her summer schedule that she is able to "bang" with the best of them. Kilyn has added a face up component to her game and this feature will make her extremely difficult to defend. If you are walking through a dark alley with trouble lurking ahead .......you might want Kilyn Bulluck by your side. Kilyn should appear on many "best of" lists after this season.

• EMAN HUBBARD: HARRISON H.S./COMBO/CLASS OF 2012
Profile: Simply one of the best players in the State of Michigan -- a shot-blocking and rebounding machine. Although Eman has great length and is extremely tough, her work ethic may be her greatest asset. Through sheer force of personality and will, Eman trudged her way to the top of the mountain by working tirelessely and consistently over the summers to improve her game. Each summer Eman added a new facet to her game and her hard work paid off this summer when she was offered a scholarship to the University of Detroit Mercy. As Eman can attest, the only way to evolve from a bench player in middle school to a highly touted Senior -- work!

• JOSLYN WILCOX: HARRISON H.S./WING/CLASS OF 2012
Profile: A student of the game and tireless worker, Joslyn has "willed" her way to becoming a starter at Harrison High School. Although the strength of Joslyn's game is her ability to knock down the mid-range shot, she has worked on extending her range to three point land. Joslyn is an underrated defender who does not shy away from challenges. She had several big outings during the AAU season against stiff competition; this experience should serve her well this season during OAA competition.

• BREONNA HOUSE: PONTIAC H.S./GUARD/CLASS OF 2012
Profile: An extremely strong two guard who is dangerous when driving to the basket. Breonna also excels in the open court and can put points up in a hurry when she is "on." Breonna scored 28 points in the title game to lead the Storm to the 15-U Division II State Championship in 2010. Breonna was an all OAA Red Selection last year and is looking to make a bigger name for herself this year.

• AURIEL HARRIS: MELVINDALE H.S./GUARD/CLASS OF 2013
Profile: A true point guard with the ability to put points on the board. Auriel was named Class B All-State Honorable Mention as a sophomore by the Detroit Free Press and was All-Down River as well. Auriel has excellent court vision and makes good decisions with the ball. If nothing is available, Auriel is more than capable of knocking down the jump shot. She is a tough competitor who is a coach on the floor.

• SYDNI DAVIS: WEST BLOOMFIELD H.S./GUARD/CLASS OF 2013
Profile: When you score 42 points in a single game as a Freshmen against a quality varsity opponent you become a "marked" player. Despite the extra attention that she draws from opponents, Sydni has continued to score in bunches. She is as quick a player as you will ever see on a High School basketball court -- and she is as tough as she is quick. In addition to her offensive prowess, Sydni is a teriffic on-ball defender. In Sydni's case, the old adage is true, "You can't stop her, you can only hope to contain her." Sydni recently handed out 16 assists against Birmingham Groves. A small sample of Syndi's abilities can be viewed below.

• CHRISTINA GREEN: SOUTHFIELD LATHRUP H.S./FORWARD/CLASS OF 2013
Profile: An athletic wing player with exceptional length and a "nose" for the basketball. Although Christina is at her best when slashing to the basket, she has added a mid-range jump shot to her repertoire. As versatile of a player that can be found, Tina often plays the "5" spot for Lathrup but plays both forward positions effectively. Tina plays the game with passion and is an instinctive offensive rebounder. Although currently under the radar, Tina's skill set will no doubt cause others to take notice this season. She has tremendous upside and should have a huge impact for Lathrup this season.

• MICHELLE HAYES: SOUTHFIELD LATHRUP H.S./FORWARD/CLASS OF 2012
Profile: One of the most underrated players in the State of Michigan. Michelle is extremely quick and has exceptional ball-handling abilities. She has outstanding range on her jump shot and passes with flair. Michelle sees the floor extremely well and is unselfish and an outstanding teammate. In addition to her offensive skills, Michelle is a "pest" on defense who routinely gives opposing guards fits in the backcourt. Although a three-year Varsity player at Lathrup, Michelle has patiently waited her "turn"; she is more than prepared to lead Lathrup this year. Michelle will play at the University of Toledo next fall.

• MIEANA GAINES: SOUTHFIELD H.S./CENTER-FORWARD/CLASS OF 2012
Profile: Great length and extremely athletic! Can run the floor better than most guards and has an explosive vertical leap. Mieana has turned into an incredible shot blocker and offensive rebounder. A late-comer to basketball, Mieana has made tremendous progress and is a significant contributor to her High School team. If her early season 21 point- 22 rebound performance is any indication, Mieana seems prepared to cause problems for a number of teams in the OAA White Division this year. Mieana has just scratched the surface of her abilitities and, due to her work ethic, will continue to close the gap on a number of more "heralded" players in the area. Mieana is a well kept secret but will not be for much longer if she continues to put up big numbers.

• TAYLOR HINKSON: A.A. GABRIEL RICHARD H.S./GUARD/CLASS OF 2012
Profile: An athletic guard who excels in the open court. Taylor has great length and plays with reckless abandon. She is always around the ball and is an excellent finisher in transition. Taylor's length and quickness causes problems for opponents on defense and she has great anticipation. Taylor is the ultimate teammate and is a coach's dream. She has started her senior season off strong for Gabriel Richard offensively. The combination of Taylor Hinkson and Angela Broggi will cause problems for many Catholic League opponents.
